CHAPTER UPDATE

Closing the Year with Growth and Momentum

The Indiana Zeta Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi at Butler University ended the academic year on a strong and optimistic note. In April, the chapter welcomed two new brothers through Continuous Open Bidding (COB) — recruitment that occurs outside of the traditional Fall Rush period. With a total of 11 new initiates this year, this marks the chapter’s largest new member class since rechartering. As a result, more than 20 brothers will be living in the chapter house.

Before the semester came to a close, the brothers hosted their annual Philanthropy Week in support of the SON Foundation. Founded by a Butler Phi Psi alumnus, the SON Foundation provides housing for cancer patients and their families while they receive treatment in Indianapolis. The week’s events included Lawn Games, Trivia Night, Obstacle Course Races, and concluded with a widely attended Sand Volleyball Tournament held at the chapter house. Over 240 students participated in the tournament, making it one of the most successful events in recent years. Butler University staff even reached out afterward to commend the chapter on its organization and hospitality.

This summer, the chapter house will remain a hub of activity. In addition to housing several undergraduate brothers, the property is undergoing several significant updates. Renovations include replacing outdated flooring in the formal room, installing new tankless water heaters (upgrading from units installed in 1999), and fully renovating the first-floor bathroom. Structural reinforcement is also being completed on the second floor to address a long-standing sagging issue. One of the top priorities remains replacing the roof to eliminate persistent leaks. The chapter is currently working closely with a roofing company and our insurance to move that project forward.

With a successful close to the academic year and major improvements underway at the house, Indiana Zeta is looking forward to welcoming new members back to campus in August with renewed energy and pride in the chapter’s future.
